Final Images!!
I have finally received the professional images of my brother modelling my handmade prosthetic piece!! I'm extremely pleased with how these images turned out and I hope you all enjoy them!
For those of you viewing my blog for the first time I am creating a handmade prosthetic for the first time using foam latex. This is all part of my final University assessment for my Foundation Degree and have been keeping this blog as a record. I have been updating all the processes using step by step imagery, showing the progression from start of the year till the end. All processes are in order at the right hand side of my blog!

The Chosen Theme
It has taken me a while to decide on the chosen theme for this assessment and as I mentioned before I was struggling between two; Demonic Nightmare and Strange Beauty.
The theme that I have chosen to do the prosthetic piece on is 'Strange Beauty'. I have chosen this theme as I feel it is very open topic to explore and the research I have looked into appealed to me a lot more then the research of Demonic Nightmare. I love the idea of creating something unusual strange and almost creepy whilst adding fantasy like elements beauty together to create something really visually unique. I will now do more of an in depth research into Strange Beauty and will then start designing a facial prosthetic for the theme!
Changes to my blog..
To make it easier to navigate round my blog, I have pages just underneath 'Emma Butler SFX Make-Up Artist'. These pages will show the stages of:

The Brief...
I have been given a brief to 'design, manufacture and apply' a facial prosthetic based on one of the following themes:
* Ancient One
* Demonic Nightmare
* Strange Beauty
* Industrial Oddity
* Weird Beast
* Metamorphosis
* The Future
When I saw the brief for the first time I was really looking forward to create a prosthetic based on one of these themes. The themes are very open and can be interpreted into other themes in the list. I like how open this brief is as it really challenges me to brainstorm and research things I wouldn't normally think of and I think this is a great way to build up my knowledge and inspiration based on one of the titles. After having a quick research and taking inspiration from what I have seen I have found that I am interested in two of the titles:
*Demonic Nightmare and *Strange Beauty. As the brief mentions I have to choose only one of these I will struggle in the next few weeks which one I'll choose for definite. These two titles are very different and I have some ideas for both, although as research goes on I could possibly combine the two themes if I was still undecided.
As part of my research here are a few inspiration images that I feel relate to both themes:

Face Off - When Hell Freezes Over - Season 4, Episode 3. Anthony and Alam's Entry.
Face Off - Spotlight Challenge: Trick Or Treat - Season 5, Episode 6. Laura. Photo credit: Brett-Patrick Jenkins. I really love these selected images because of the high quality of visual detail and structure. These have inspired me to research into the two themes until I decide on a definite chosen theme. I love the definition used through contouring and on eyebrows, chin and cheekbones. Not to mention the incredible structures on the heads!These deigns are visually stunning to look at, even if some of them shock and look a bit creepy. I love how some of the images incorporate beauty with scary elements designed to shock and provoke a reaction from the audience.
